This is the beast that I use for testing vacuum tubes (valves). It is an original Hicock tester from the 1950’s. Unlike most testers (including modern ones), the Hicock indicates a value for mutual conductance in mhos, rather than just pass/fail. This allows me to compare the performance of the valve against the manufacturers specification. There is also a test to show when a valve is reaching the end of it’s useful life.
