This was someone’s attempt at adding an active tone control to a Music Man 210 65W. Judging by the charred components in the power supply, it wasn’t too successful! Below pic: All stripped out and returned to its original condition, the amp now sounds great.

Temporarily, over to the the dark side today! I’m working on a solid state Peavey, converting to UK voltage and fixing a couple of broken pots. PCBs allow manufacturers to cram in a lot of functionality, but they are more difficult to repair and modify than hand-wired amps.

This is the beast that I use for testing vacuum tubes (valves). It is an original Hicock tester from the 1950’s. Unlike most testers (including modern ones), the Hicock indicates a value for mutual conductance in mhos, rather than just pass/fail.
